Each semester, USIL’s International Development Office organizes a welcome and induction celebration for international students with the purpose of making this academic cultural interchange a gratifying and unforgettable experience.

Amigo USIL (USIL Friend)
USIL has developed the program AMIGO USIL in which a local student is your host and helps you if you have any trouble when you first arrive on campus, as well as making you feel a part of the USIL community. At the same time, this local student advises you on transport, shopping and days or nights out. To sum up, he/she helps you have a more pleasant stay in our country.
“Amigo USIL” is in charge of planning activities for all the exchange students.

Health Insurance
As an international student, you need to have complete health insurance coverage when you come to Peru. If you do not have it, you must get it during the first days of your stay in our country.

VISA
The International Development Office is designed to help answer any queries you may have about your foreign student status in our country. That is why the following basic information will help you enter our country with no trouble and have a pleasant stay in our country as an international student.

  • Official visas are the only ones USIL takes responsibility for and they are processed by the university. This procedure must start four (4) weeks before the date of the flight to our country and to do this, the university requires the following basic information:

1. Names and last names
2. Nationality
3. Country
4. E-mail
5. Passport number (it must be valid for at least 2 months)
6. Arrival date to our country and estimated time of your stay
7. Educational Institution
8. Intended level of study in Peru (undergraduate or graduate studies)
9. The nearest Peruvian Embassy or Consulate in your country

  • Once the official visas are approved, we will send you an e-mail saying you can collect it at the nearest Peruvian Embassy (generally they will seal your passport on the same day you collect it). The Embassy may require additional documentation such as a Carta de Seleccion (Selection Letter) issued by your university, so we recommend calling the Peruvian Embassy to find out what documentation you need to take with you before collecting your visa.
  • The official visa is normally issued for a period of 60 to 90 days, which start when you arrive in Peru.
  • Once you are in our country, you must leave your passport at the university 30 days before your official visa expires so that the university can ask for a renewal for the rest of your stay at USIL, without any charge.
  • It is important to emphasize that USIL does not take any responsibility for the expenses and immigration procedures of those students who come with another kind of visa (student or tourist visa).
