On Saturday, June 17, Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) participated in the welcome reception for the BAP Unión training ship in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. Among its activities, the Peruvian ship sailed in Boston’s Parade of Sail, and that evening, the reception was held on board the ship for local officials and distinguished guests such as Raúl Diez Canseco Terry, USIL founder and chairman of the board.
Standing out once more as an ambassador of Peruvian cuisine, USIL, through its Culinary Arts and Gastronomy & Restaurant Management programs, prepared some of the most traditional Peruvian dishes for the reception. Quinoa, ‘“the golden grain from the Andes”, played a starring role as the most important Peruvian ingredient and one of the super foods taken along on the first travelling Peruvian embassy for the purpose of international positioning.
In this manner, our university has positioned itself as the most global Peruvian university, an exporter of education, and the best ambassador of Peruvian culture. In the words of Raúl Diez Canseco Terry, “Seeing the Peruvian flag waving over Boston Harbor makes us think that, together, we Peruvians can go out into the world that awaits us. We could say that wherever Peru goes (in the world), San Ignacio is there.”
Among the activities of the BAP Unión in the city of Boston, a fair of Peruvian products and services is being held from June 18 to 22 in the ship’s Peru Salon. The event is open to the general public.
