Social responsibility is one of our university’s institutional pillars. Therefore, we foster it in a crosscutting manner with the participation of the faculty and students and support from the Office of the Vice President of Social Responsibility.

It was in this context, the University Social Alliance (ASU), which is composed of a team of USIL volunteers, came into being. ASU is an initiative that establishes channels through which students contribute to projects and programs that make a positive impact on our society. Under agreements with government entities, companies, community organizations and NGOs, ASU members participate in volunteer work in Metropolitan Lima and the Cusco region.

In this manner, Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola seeks to provide its students with an education in solidarity based not only on theory, but also on life experiences.

What better way than through direct contact with different realities to foster significant learning, awareness and maturity among young students committed to their country’s progress?

The University Social Alliance (ASU) carries out activities within the framework of five lines of action:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Education
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Preventive health care
  • Solidarity

"To us, university social responsibility implies giving a coherent, sustainable response to the social demands of our country and the world, based on our students’ potential. This response is directed toward the application of different initiatives and projects designed to obtain beneficiaries’ commitment and involvement, making them dynamic stakeholders in the process. In this manner, we guarantee continuity, but above all, empowerment rather than simple aid for those who have remained at the margins of society."
